Ensembles and Group classes

Music is often at its most rewarding when shared with others. Our Ensembles and group lessons include more than one student and focus on learning alongside peers while developing valuable musical and social skills. We also offer group sessions for early childhood to support children in discovering their love for music.

Why Join an Ensemble?

Learning within an ensemble teaches students that music is more than individual achievement. It's about contributing to something greater than themselves. As students rehearse and perform together, they develop the ability to listen actively, adapt to others, and understand how their part fits within the broader musical picture.

Ensemble participation encourages patience, responsibility, and mutual respect, as every musician plays a role in the group's success. Students experience the satisfaction of overcoming challenges together, celebrating shared achievements, and witnessing how collaboration can transform individual effort into a powerful collective performance.

Beyond the rehearsal room, ensemble programs help young people build meaningful connections with their peers, strengthen their sense of belonging, and develop confidence through shared experiences. The friendships, memories, and personal growth that emerge from making music together often remain long after the final note has been played.

    Ensembles

YRC runs ensembles at both Young and Temora studios.

Whether performing in a band, orchestra, choir, or small group, students learn how their individual contribution helps create something much larger and more rewarding.

    Our current ensembles:

    • Flute ensemble

    • Brass ensemble

    • String ensemble

    • Stage band

    • Orchestra

    • Choir

  • Early Childhood Music

Early childhood classes are conducted at both Young and Temora studios, as well as in local preschools. Classes at our studios are attended by mothers/fathers/carers and children.

Early Childhood Music classes include activities designed to support development in areas such as:

    • singing

    • chanting

    • movement

    • musical memory

    • playing non-melodic percussion instruments

    • improvisation

Children are encouraged to participate in singing, playing, and dancing activities in a warm, friendly environment.

  • Pre-Instrumental classes

Pre-instrumental classes are designed for 5-6 year old children who are often in their first year of school.

These classes build on children’s developing singing and playing skills through activities focused on beat, rhythm, singing and movement.

Children will be guided to explore a range of instruments, from which they might choose to enrol in individual tuition.
