The guitar is different from other string instruments because it has frets (the little lines) along the neck, helping to guide finger placement. Acoustic guitars have hollow bodies, so the sound can vibrate within. Electric guitars have solid bodies, and the soft sound made by the instrument is made louder through the use of an amplifier.

Classical guitars have nylon strings, and there are half size and three-quarter size guitars for younger/smaller players.

Acoustic guitars have steel strings, making a brighter, louder sound than classical guitars.

Bass guitars usually only have 4 strings, and their sound is very low.

    Cowra

I’m from Cowra NSW. I grew up in a musical family and have been playing bass and guitar since my teenage years. After finding a love of music and completing school, I went on to further study music and obtain an Advanced Diploma of music at TAFE Western NSW.

Since this time I have been highly involved in the musical community of the Central West area, writing and recording original music, undertaking studio session work as a bass player, playing in multiple original and covers bands in the area and running and volunteering my time operating live sound at public/community events including the long running ‘4 on the 4loor’ based in Orange N.S.W.

I am inspired by a wide variety of genres finding the love and enjoyment in all forms of music and creative arts

I’m a guitar, bass, ukulele and sound design/production tutor. I enjoy teaching all styles of music and want every student to enjoy playing, creating and performing music as much as possible. One of my favourite aspects of YRC is our regular student concerts which give the community a chance to see the work students are putting into their studies. I play all genres of guitar ranging from jazz to classical to metal and enjoy playing bass when it comes to disco and funk. My past studies have provided me with an interest in all styles of electronic music and a drive to draw more attention to the scientific side of music.
