  • Judy Barker

I’m Judy, a vocal and piano/keyboard tutor. I love working with students of all ages to help them find their voice and bring out their own passion for music. I have been performing for many years in musical theatre, bands playing everything from jazz, funk, R & B, musical theatre to pop and rock, and performing these styles solo on vocals and keyboard. I believe everyone’s life is richer with music in it. Where there is joy in singing and playing, there is joy in listening!

The ability to express ourselves in music is a powerful tool and it is a joy to be a part of a student’s journey as they unlock their musical potential and create lasting results.

I bring 20 years of teaching with NSW Regional Conservatoriums to YRC to mentor musicians and students in performance preparation, examinations and their weekly lessons.

When I’m not working music, I’m feet up in my garden and spending time with my husband, Michael, in the Central West of NSW.

I’m Emily, a piano, vocal and violin/viola tutor. I love working with choirs and ensembles, and believe that playing or singing with other people is a wonderful way to share music with our community. Great for the music makers and the listeners! My favourite part of the YRC year is the annual musical (look our for Alice in 2022!). I play Irish fiddle, classical and pop piano, and happily sing musical theatre, folk, pop and indie rock! I delight in the mathematical precision of the circle of fifths, and believe that music theory makes life better.

  • Wendy Brooks

    YRC studios, Young Cowra

Like many children growing up in regional NSW in the 1960s and 70s, I learnt piano from the local Josephite nuns. I had never seen a grand piano until I auditioned at Sydney Conservatorium, so I really love the opportunities that regional conservatoriums provide for our students.

I love the light bulb moments in teaching, when students find the answers or the techniques that work for them, or when they achieve something after a great deal of effort. I delight in helping students find the connections across various subjects or different aspects of their learning.

Learning an instrument is a long-term project, and I see the positive relationships between teachers and their students as crucial to the learning process.

Hi, my name is Amanda, and I am a piano tutor. I like working with students to guide and support them towards their individual music goals, and to create a positive music experience for all. I enjoy listening to a wide range of genres, and believe music is a wonderful addition to our daily lives, whether it be as a listener or as a performer. At the piano, I enjoy playing music from the Classical, Romantic & Impressionist periods, and have always been a big fan of Ragtime. I also like to accompany other instruments and appreciate any chance I get to collaborate with others.

  • Ingrid Owens

YRC studios, Young Quandialla Central School St Anne’s Catholic School. Temora St Mary’s Catholic School, Young Temora Public School Temora West Public School

I am a tutor of flute, piano, clarinet and saxophone at YRC. I have loved listening and moving to music from a very early age, and the desire to create music naturally followed as I grew. In my career, I have mostly focused on classical music and have been involved in many ensembles across the country, but more recently, I have explored the amazing world of jazz music. I believe the social aspects of music and music making are most valuable to personal health and wellbeing, and I love performing for and with others. YRC has a great culture of student concerts, which I readily involve myself with as often as I can. I get a great deal of satisfaction from teaching, when I see my students grow in confidence and self-belief as they achieve their goals.
